sunday snipets

Last night I finished up Honey of the Snowangelz Collection. Will photograph a little later today when the sun is up a little surer in the sky.  Tomorrow I think I'll get started on the stained glass window design I had been designing around the holidays.

I'm also going to stop and pick up some air dry clay. I'm really wanting to play a little with embellishment creation; buttons, beads, pendants. More on that as it develops.

Day 3/ 365 Dragonfly Days

365 dragonfly days

The dragonfly is one of  my animal spirit guides.  The raven, the other.  One of the things I really wanted to do in the upcoming year is to reconnect with certain aspects of myself that I have neglected.  While my guides are always with me and I see their influence in my life, I do not always stop to really think about what they represent in my life as often as I should.

Both have been appearing more frequently. I think it is because I feel a major shift coming in my life. I've not identified just what it is yet, but I am restless.

And I need to listen.

light in the woods

On one of my many wanderings about Rasmussen Woods,  I snapped a few pictures of the sun coming in through the tops of the trees.

I have started looking at some of the pictures for a variety of reasons; to ready myself for my upcoming painting and drawing classes, (even my printmaking class!), to keep working on some of my digital painting skills, and to see what I might piece together for future needlework projects.

Most know of my fascination with trees. They are often the subject matter of my sketching and I have folders filled with pictures I have taken and others I have come across in my web wanderings.

This morning I found myself well into coffee pot #2 playing around with these images, first in Photoshop and Illustrator, and then in Pattern Maker.  Kind of weird and different, but I'm kind of diggin' the results.

Cross Stitch Version

 (I really liked this one!)
Cross Stitch Version

It is finally snowing!  Not the big fluffy flakes, but hey, at this point, being through December with nothing on the ground, I will take whatever I can get!  Off to stitch for awhile, and then I might just go tromp around in the wonderful white stuff!

Photoshop and Fabric Design

My Special Problems class required me to work through a project of my choosing, and I decided to design a quilt fabric collection and then with the use of Photoshop, work those swatch images into  a quilt. This is the result! I was fairly happy with how it turned out.

A few swatches I have been working on

These all started as photographs from my wanderings in the woods and those snapped of my own flowers here. I have been working with color and Photoshop and manipulating images. The last is a sketch of flowers that I scanned and then played around with.

Illustration Friday Challenge, Perspective

This is an illustration I did in Photoshop using pen and paintbrush tools for Illustration Friday.

The prompt was "Perspective" and I had found this quotation and had always wanted to do something with it as my inspiration.

"If we could see the miracle of a single flower clearly, our whole life would change." -Buddha
