Ten Spiritual Tonics

1. Stop worrying. Worry kills life.
2. Begin each day with a prayer. It will arm your soul.
3. Control appetite. Over-indulgence clogs body and mind.
4. Accept your limitations . . .
5. Don't envy. It wastes time and energy.
6. Have faith in people. Cynicism sours the disposition.
7. Find a hobby. It will relax your nerves.
8. Read a book a week to stimulate imagination and broaden your views.
9. Spend some time alone for the peace of solitude and silence.
10. Try to want what you have, instead of spending your strength trying to get what you want.
Abraham L. Feinberg

Earth, ourselves, breathe and awaken, leaves are stirring, all things moving, new day coming, life renewing.

  1. Dragonfly
The word Dragonfly has its source in the myth that Dragonflies were once Dragons.

Dragonfly eggs are laid within their territory near the water. Once hatched, these nymphs will live nearly two years on the bottom of streams and ponds. Reaching adulthood is an amazing occurrence; they transform into dragonflies and ascend to the air.
In the air, they travel with wings that sparkle with spectacular colors by reflecting and refracting light and other colors. No insect or bird can maneuver as well as a dragonfly. Flying up to 30-40 mph, they will twist, turn, move up and down, fly backwards, even change directions instantaneously and still will spot movement 40 feet away.

The power of Dragonfly lies in its ability to see around things by looking from different angles, using its ability to transform colors and lights by reflecting and refracting them.
The Dragonfly shows us that life, like light, can bend, shift, and adapt in various ways, making life's appearance never be what it appears to be.
Dragonfly's magic shows us to see through life's illusions and find our true vision. It calls us to transform within our lives and reminds us to feel deeply so we will have the compassion necessary to help ourselves and others.
The Dragonfly’s scurrying flight across water represents an act of going beyond what’s on the surface and looking into the deeper implications and aspects of life.

Power and Poise --- Efficient, Simplicity with Eloquence and grace
Defeat of self-created Illusions ---Removal of inhibitions
Focuses on living “in” the moment---Lets you live life without regrets
Open of one’s eyes---Seeing beyond the mundane
    Animal symbolism of the dragonfly:
    Prosperity
    Good luck
    Strength
    Peace
    Harmony
    Purity

Dragonflies carry messages that deal with deeper thought - and they ask that we pay attention to our deeper thoughts and desires.

  2. Where the trees walk
    by Pollyanna Darling

Up on the mountain, alone in my cave
Trees buckle and beg the wild winds to behave
Leaves whipped and torn free, flutter and dart
Trunks swaying, touch lightly, stirred up at the heart

Like pillars of salt, they throw off the crust
Shrug loose the clutter, detritus and dust
Tossing and shuffling, crack-shatter the ground
As if feet would emerge and walk them around.

No longer tied, earthbound and still
These root-burdened giants move over the hill
Sweeping our frail human structures away
Claiming sovreignty here on this wild winter's day.

Imagine a world where all the trees walked
Burst into our lounge rooms as we drank tea and talked
Imposed the strong will of their dense, woody hearts
And used us for décor, furniture and arts.

Up on the mountain, in company of trees
I'm awed in their presence and fall to my knees
They ask that we honour their loyalty to earth
As they shelter her places of death and rebirth.

Each one an altar to life forces flowing
A triumph of structure alive and still growing
A presence that nurtures, silently there
    Alert, receiving, vibrating, aware.

The tree in your yard, at your window or door
Knows the depths of your heart and the love at your core.
It cares not what crimes you act, think or speak
Bout timeframes and deadlines and days of the week.

Look out now and see them, these guardians true
They know you although you are just passing through
You are not alone, or weak or unfree
Embrace a strong heart, go hug a tree!

  3. We return thanks to our mother, the earth, which sustains us.
We return thanks to the rivers and streams,
    which supply us with water.
We return thanks to all herbs,
which furnish medicines for the cure of our diseases.
We return thanks to the moon and stars,
which have given to us their light when the sun was gone.
We return thanks to the sun,
that has looked upon the earth with a beneficent eye.
Lastly, we return thanks to the Great Spirit,
in Whom is embodied all goodness,
and Who directs all things for the good of Her children.

  4. When we are connected to the Earth Mother, or when we are clear on our purpose, we will feel connected and safe. We will feel love. When we are disconnected from the Earth Mother, or we don't know who we are or why we are, we will feel pain. It will be similar to a little child who has lost its Mother.

  6. It is the forest
    that fills my blood,
    that fills me
    with branches silver
    with lichen and
    sweet resin.

    It is from the sky
    I drink clouds
    and lightning,
    with lips of leaves
    and the green of Life.

    And it is this forest
    in the heart of Self
    that is the miracle
    and magic,
    and Nature's gift!

  7. My practice as a green witch is an expression of my love & reverence of Mama Gaea & nature. I’m not a big spell caster, I only do magic if my intuition deems it necessary. I aim to cultivate a meaningful relationship with Mama Gaea & the nature spirits in my environment. Druidry is my outlook & path, green witchcraft is the expression & practice. Whenever I’m outside I engage with my surroundings, what can I see, hear, smell, feel, taste touch? I am always observing nature to see what she has to tell me.

My personal goal as a green witch is connection. I strive to be in a state where I aware & alert of my environment at all time so that I can be ready to offer assistance should the need arise, whether its to make a charm for my sister to keep away her night terrors or hear the whispers of the genus loci to clean up litter in an area or leave an offering to the gnomes or faeries.

I also want to be a wort-cunner, I want to work with herbs for healing (as well as magic) but not just in herbal remedies, but to work with the plant’s spirit to heal on the spiritual & emotional levels.
